Nigerians expressed suspicion and dissatisfaction with the justification on Tolulope Arotile’s death, which most people described as a fabricated story.
Following the release of the flying officer’s mysterious death, Nigerians in different quarters rejected the explanation of the deceased death. Recently, the Nigerian Air Force had stated that an old school classmate accidentally knocked her down in Kaduna. Consequently, she hit her head on a pavement and died after sustaining a head injury.
Hence, Nigerians react to the news and urge the government to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. To them, it appears fictional than factual.
Damilola Adegboye, the immediate elder sister of the flying officer rejects the information given on the cause of her sister’s death. Thus, she asks the military to thoroughly investigate the officer’s death.
“We in the family are not convinced that Tolu can just die like that in a freak accident. I know that the military is well trained in the art of investigation, we want them to carry out a thorough investigation that can convince us beyond all doubts that the incident that led to her death was real.” She said.Damilola Adegboye
Also, her mother finally speaks, insisting that the deceased death is not natural. She said that her “daughter told her many things and if she opens up heads will roll in the Nigerian Air Force and military hierarchy.” In her words: “I know my daughter’s death is not natural. I insist that she was murdered and those who killed her will not go unpunished as long as my God is alive.”
“Is it not laughable that a young lady who has escaped Boko Haram’s attack and bandit’s bullet several times would be killed by a reversing car, just like that.” She added.Mrs Arotile
Another Nigerian, Fani-Kayode, reacts to the news of the death of the flying officer, stating that they murdered her. “She was courageous and formidable in battle, doing much harm to Boko Haram.” He also said that he doesn’t believe that a friend knocked her down on the Nigerian Air Force base with a car. To him, it seems “nonsensical”
However, the Nigerian Air Force responds to allegations of murder of the flying officer. While addressing the press at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja, the Director of Public Relations and Information, said:
“The Nigerian Air Force, being a highly professional and disciplined organization, will not join issues with any individuals or groups regarding the spurious allegations of ‘foul play’ espoused in some quarters.”Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola
