Earl Wilson, 55, has been charged with murder for the death of Paul Aikman, in Oklahoma in 1985.
In September 1985, Aikman was stabbed to death at a rest stop on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County . The Turnpike connects Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the states two largest cities. An investigation was carried out. Although, at the time of investigation,35 years ago,the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents collected cigarette butts and latent fingerprints from the crime scene, to create a DNA profile of a suspect, but no matches were found at the time. Therefore, the case went sour for 33 years.
Then last year, 2019, a search was made by OSBI criminalists of the national DNA database CODIS and found a match to the DNA which points to Wilson. According to OSBI Director Ricky Adams, he said, “For 35 years. Paul Aikman’s family has ached not knowing who was responsible for his murder. 35 years have passed, but we have not forgotten about Paul. Thanks to science and determined police work by OSBI agents and our Cold Case Unit, we are pleased to announce that the suspect in Pauls’s murder has been identified.”
Although, court records do not show if Wilson has retained an attorney.
