Walt Disney has moved the new Avatar and Star Wars release date due to the pandemic. The biggest news is that the new avatar and star wars movies have been pushed back a year. Also the BlockBuster movie, Mulan has also been delayed indefinitely. This news has however dealt a blow to cinema operators during this period.
“instead of releasing seven of them alternately between 2021 and 2027, they will now come out between 2022 and 2028. Three Star Wars films — the first reportedly Taika Waititi’s — is set for December 22, 2023, December 19, 2025, and December 17, 2027. Avatar takes up the other four slots, with Avatar 2 on December 16, 2022, Avatar 3 on December 20, 2024, Avatar 4 on December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028.”Gadget 360 reported
cinema operators hoped that the release of Mulan would have created a rebound in cinema-going. The AMC movie theaters and Cineworld cinemas to at least ending of July to mid-august in the US. The Mulan delay trails Warner Bros’ decision to delay the August release of Christopher Nolan’s thriller Tenet. Another delayed Disney film is Ridley Scott’s historical thriller The Last Duel, which stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. these movies have been shifted to October 2021.
